NPDES PermitsNational Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). The NPDES Permit requirements for listing of the Public Health Pesticides anticipated to be used specify that any pesticide product can be used that contains approved active ingredients, provided all pesticide label restrictions and instructions are followed. In addition, pesticides that fall under the “minimum risk” category can be used.
Response PlansSince 1969, California has had a mosquito-borne disease surveillance program in place to monitor mosquito abundance and encephalitis virus activity. The present program was established in 1990 through a cooperative effort of the Arbovirus Research Group at the School of Public Health, UC Berkeley (now the Davis Arbovirus Research and Training, UC Davis), and the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District.
